This Starburst quilt is made with HSTs (Half Square Triangles).
I love how the black background makes the red fabric pop! A black border, complete with cornerstones, made this a good-sized lap quilt.
It became a wedding gift for my niece. I hope they like it as much as I do!

Fun with HSTs (half square triangles)! Which ever method you use to make HSTs, here's a fun way to make placemats. One our sons and his wife have 6 kids, so when they come for dinner I need 10 placemats. This project has stimulated some amusing conversation over many meals thus far.
I made lots ... and I mean LOTS ... of HSTs. Then I used 54 HSTs per placemat and arranged them in a different design for each one. It makes for a very unique looking table setting.
